A final-year researcher of the integrated PhD programme at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata, was found dead inside a laboratory on the Mohanpur campus on Monday.The body of Subhadip Roy, 29, a researcher in solid-state physics, was found lying on the laboratory floor, said sources at IISER.
According to a senior police officer, he was discovered hanging in his room around 10.30 p.m. The IISc administration notified Sadashivnagar police, who rushed to the scene and shifted the body for postmortem examination, as well as informing his parents. The police discovered no suicide note at the scene, and a case of unnatural death was registered based on a complaint from management, and investigations are ongoing.
Subhadip Roy (29), a Ph.D. Scholar of IISER Kolkata, has committed suicide in his lab, blaming his Pl on 04/04/22.
