CSIR NET stands for the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test. It is a national-level exam administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for candidates interested in pursuing a junior research fellowship (JRF) or a lectureship (LS) as a career.

The NTA CSIR UGC NET is conducted in five subjects: life sciences, physical sciences, chemical sciences, earth sciences, and mathematical sciences, twice a year.

Candidates who qualify for CSIR NET JRF are eligible to become lecturers in science and technology subjects only.
